Certified HMI Horticultural Assessment (Certified Assessment) |
 |
A Certified Assessment will provide you with a complete inventory of your assessed trees and shrubs by quantity, size, condition and form. The inventory will include species and cultivar descriptions, care and maintenance instructions, and detailed information regarding factors which can affect the health and livelihood of your landscape. All of this data is authored by renowned U.S. Horticulturist Dr. Michael A. Dirr. In addition, you will receive the current through 5-year projected replacement value of each assessed plant on your property.
A Certified Assessment must be completed by one of HMI’s authorized field assessors. These assessors have been authorized by HMI as being expert in plant species and cultivar identification. They also have been trained on how to assess your site and provide accurate information regarding the size and condition of your trees and shrubs. Accuracy is a critical element of any Assessment as different cultivars and property characteristics will return different replacement values and care instructions.
If you are planning to use your Assessment to acquire insurance on some or all of your trees or shrubs, a Certified Assessment may be required. Please contact your insurance agent or HMI’s Customer Service Department at (866) 937-6468 for more information.

Non-Certified Summary Report
A Non-Certified Summary Report is completed by the property owner or his/her representative. HMI will rely on the accuracy of the data which is provided to create the replacement valuations. Use the Non-Certified Summary Report replacement cost values in the event of a casualty loss. You may not be able to obtain some products, such as insurance, based on a Non-Certified Summary Report. Please contact your insurance agent or HMI’s Customer Service Department at (866) 937-6468 for more information.
